About GLAD
The Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness, founded in 1969, is a private non-profit organization ensuring equal access of all opportunities for the *deaf, deafblind, deaf disabled and hard of hearing communities. GLAD is the fiscal management for its three subsidiary centers located within the 10 counties in Southern California. Its mission is to promote the educational, health, housing, vocational, cultural, social and recreational welfare of its communities through direct service provision, advocacy, research and dissemination of information to the consumers, professionals and parents.
Position Summary
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides leadership and strategic direction for the organization, ensuring its mission is fulfilled and that it operates effectively and efficiently. The CEO works closely with programs, finances, fundraising, human resources, community engagement, and governmental agencies while building strong relationships with the Board of Directors and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Vision
• Provides strategic leadership to advance GLAD's mission and long-term goals.
• Fosters a culture of inclusion, accessibility, and empowerment within the organization and communities.
• Serves as a public face and primary spokesperson for GLAD at local, state and national levels.
Board Relations
• Recommends policies and assists to the Board of Directors for effective and economical operation of the agency.
• Works closely with the Board of Directors, providing timely and comprehensive accurate reports, data and analysis ensuring alignment on goals and governance.
• Develops and recommends to the Board written long- and short-term plans for program and service development.
Financial Management
• Oversees the organization’s annual financial operations an shares audit reports to the Board.
• Leads fundraising efforts and grantsmanship ensuring financial sustainability.
• Builds and maintains strong relationships with funders, donors, and community stakeholders securing financial resources.
Operational Management
• Oversees daily operations of with approximately 70 employees including its subsidiary centers, ensuring high quality delivery of programs and services.
• Ensures effective planning, implementation and evaluation of programs and services.
• Assesses community needs, identifies service gaps, develops new programs and modifies existing programs utilizing Board’s five-year plan.
• Ensures compliance with all legal, regulatory and contractual obligations.
• Provides supervision and evaluation of key staff, fostering a positive organizational culture and ensuring compliance with HR policies and regulations.
• Serves as the fiscal management agency for subsidiary centers and oversee operations across multiple centers.
Community Engagement
• Advocates for the civil rights and rights of the deaf communities.
• Maintains highly effective public relations and social media.
• Strengthens collaborations with legislative/government agencies, businesses, partner organizations, California Coalition of Agencies serving the Deaf & Hard of Hearing, and stakeholders.
LIFESIGNS, Inc. Sign Language Interpreter Services
• Oversees all aspects of the Sign Language Interpreter Services program.
• Maintains high-quality communication access for the communities served.
• Supervises and collaborates closely with the Director of LIFESIGNS.
GLAD Building Management
• Oversees facility's operations, ensuring efficient running of the building's daily activities, including maintenance, safety and security.
• Maintains compliance with all safety regulations and codes, including emergency procedures.
• Negotiates service contracts and complies HUD's regulations for affordable housing for deaf seniors residing in the facility.
• Manages budgets for building related expenses.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum of five years of senior management experience including team leadership, operations and program management.
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) with profound knowledge of deaf culture and issues impacting deaf communities and a deep understanding of lived experience as a deaf person.
Essential Skills
• Strong background in non-profit development and operations, including fundraising, grant management and financial oversight.
• Demonstrated success in strategic project management and policy advocacy at the local, state or federal level.
• Proven ability to manage complex programs, staff and budgets effectively.
• Proficient in engaging and working with diverse and multicultural communities.
• Excellent communication, advocacy, interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
• Knowledgeable in public and business administration principles, including organizational, personnel and fiscal management.
• Experienced in advocacy, marketing, financial strategy and fundraising.
• Adaptable, solutions-oriented leader with the ability to manage multiple priorities in changing environments.
• Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (1974), Americans with Disabilities Act (1990) and other California anti-discrimination laws.
Compensation and Benefits
• Salary: Annual Pay ($140,000 to $160,000)
